how to make bead bracelets
I used to make bead bracelets. All you need are beads and something to hold them together. Sometimes, I'd use a long elastic strip. Other times, I'd use string (usually a fishing line for strength) and a necklace clasp. What you use depends on what you have with you.
The easiest would be the elastic band bead necklace.
- Gather the beads you can find.
- Take your elastic strip and use that to measure your wrist. Cut off enough elastic to go round your wrist loosely + and additional 10 cm for the knots.
- Lay the beads out on a table and arrange them in a circle until they look pleasing to you.
- Once you are happy with your arrangement, string them together with a long elastic strip.
- Measure this against your wrist. It should fit loosely.
- Tie a loose knot where the beads end.
- The bracelet should go over your hand easily. If knot, untie that knot and add 1 or 2 more beads or as many as necessary.
- Once you can wear the bracelet easily, then tighten the knot.
- Slip the loose strips through the beads, both strips go in opposite directions.
- Tie each loose strip agains the strip that thread the beads, a few beads away from the original knot.
- Thread the loose strips under a few more beads, away from the new knots and trim away any unsightly ends.
